Dyalekt Appears in History of the Inspired Mind, Thursday, December 3rd in Appleton, Wisconsin

Fox Cities Performing Arts Center Sold Out for Performance of Hip Hop Spoken Word, Poetry, Dance and Music

New York, NY / December 1, 2009 – Accomplished actor and MC Dyalekt will perform in History of the Inspired Mind, this Thursday, December 3 at 12:30 p.m. to a sold out Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, located at 400 West College Avenue in Appleton, Wisconsin.

History of the Inspired Mind is a fresh, interactive, captivating 60-minute performance that incorporates a “live theatre experience" with an in-school workshop and literacy program. The performance captures the voices of today’s youth through Hip Hop spoken word poetry, dance and music and introduces students to methods of expression in a positive uplifting fashion.

“It’s amazing to me that I can travel from St. Croix to Appleton, Wisconsin in the span of two weeks and that the reception is so positive in both places. Selling out this 1,600 seat theater is very gratifying,” says Dyalekt.

Directed by Peter Gil-Sheridan, the cast of diverse performers includes singer Ihsan Muhammed, B-Boy Cyclone, MC Rabbi Darkside, actor and MC Dyalekt and Ian Andrew and James Michael from We Got Eastmen. They represent different ethnic backgrounds and inspire students to create notions of self-confidence through Hip Hop culture. The performance challenges students to think, write & dance their way into their individuality, while maintaining their sense of community.

History of the Inspired Mind is more than just a live theatre performance; in addition, it completely integrates a literacy and movement based curriculum in the classroom setting, where questions about art & life are discussed. It is designed to encourage culture & community as a tool for overcoming the many obstacles that students face today. Through our innovative curriculum & lesson plans, students and teachers work with our performers/educators in schools before the show. These workshops have proved to be an effective tool in opening lines of communication to our youth. The performers/educators will invite students to rhyme, sing, recite poems, beatbox, and breakdance on stage in front of parents & peers.
