Steelo Opens for German-Based Iranian Star Shanin Najafi

Seattle, WA / March 3, 2010 – Steelo will open for Shanin Najafi, who is performing live for the first time on the west coast, on Thursday, March 4th at Ibiza, located at:

Najafi's music blends melodic grooves over underground hip hop beats, and layered with intense rap vocals based on lyrics fueled by real life stories and sociopolitical commentaries; he has emerged as one of the front-runners of the Iranian underground music movement which an array of artists producing music with piercing lyrics delivered through underground genres, such as indie rock and hip hop, and inspired in view of the sociopolitical pressures of the time, particularly in Iran.

Seattle-based R&B/hip-hop group, Steelo, who’s MC A.Uno is Iranian and Mexican and is known for delivering rhymes in English, Spanish and Farsi will open for Shanin Najafi. Steelo released their debut album “Music” on June 16, 2009. The group appeared on the 2009 National Sneaker Pimps Tour, the largest traveling hip hop lifestyle and sneaker exhibition in the world, sponsored by Xbox and Verizon Wireless, at Seattle Fashion Week and at a BMI showcase at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, which aired as part of a special on NBC Mun2’s “One Nation Under Hip Hop.”

The show is produced by Zirzamin.org, which recognizes the growing Seattle Iranian community, estimated around 10,000, performs world music promotion, runs an online Iranian alternative music magazine and Globe Shows.
