Miss Hispanic Seafair Announces Candidates for 2011 Scholarship Pageant

Seattle, WA / February 10, 2011 - The Hispanic Seafair Organization has announced the candidates for  the Miss Hispanic Seafair 2011.  This year participation is unprecedented with a record 20 nominees, all representing the Hispanic community of greater Western Washington and various higher education institutions.  All the candidates can be viewed at http://hispanicseafair.org/candidatas2011.html.  The public will be able to meet the candidates at the Hispanic Seafair Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner on March 26, 2011 and tickets will be available soon.

“We’re very excited to see our scholarship program grow, and to see so many great girls wanting to represent Washington’s Hispanic community. ” Says Michelle Font, Director of Miss Hispanic Seafair Pageant.

Scholarship candidates will work on their presentation and media skills, as well as develop a community platform,  through a series of workshops held bi-weekly until the queen is crowned at the Miss Hispanic Seafair Coronation on May 21, at which time she will also be presented with a nominal scholarship.

About Hispanic Seafair Organization

The Hispanic Seafair Organization (HSO) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the advancement and education of Hispanic women and representing the Hispanic community during Seattle's Seafair celebration and throughout the year.

HSO provides college scholarships to qualifying young women, and has celebrated Seafair the Latin way at the annual Hispanic Seafair Festival at Seward Park, since 1980.  This year's festival will be held in July 2011 at the Seattle Center.  It is a free event, which includes a full day of Latin music, dance, and arts and crafts, and an opportunity to sample diverse regional cuisines.
