Black Stax Month-Long Residency at Babalu’s Seattle

Babalu’s Grand Reopening Month-Long Celebration with the Avant-Garde of Seattle Hip-Hop

Seattle, WA / August 3, 2010 - Black Stax will celebrate the grand reopening of Babalu The Mambo Lounge with a Saturday night residency for the month of August, starting Saturday, August 7 and ending Saturday, August 28, 2010.

“This residency exemplified what Black Stax is all about. With the fusion of genres and Felicia’s jazz background, Black Stax is lucky enough to play for a varied audience, from hip hop to blues and now a mambo lounge,” says Jace of Black Stax.

Babalu is located at:

1723 N. 45th Street
Seattle, WA 98127

$5 at the door.
Doors at 8:00 p.m. / 21+

According to its website, Babalu is a Mambo lounge with East Coast savvy. It’s intimate and elegant and the atmosphere manages to remain both cozy and sophisticated, with linen-shaded chandeliers casting soft mandarin orange light on mahogany bar stools, overstuffed couches made for lounging, chocolate leather walls, a chic mirrored bar and a performance stage. The interior is non-smoking, with outdoor patio seating available year round.

Black Stax is the avant-garde of Seattle hip-hop whose forthcoming debut album Talking Buildings is an eclectic, urban mix. Comprised of MCs Silas Blak and Jace ECAj and vocalist Felicia Loud, Black Stax makes creative, challenging and emotional music with an injection of hip hop and 70s-era soul. They recently opened for the Nappy Roots at Neumos and at a fundraising event for the families of the Fremont fire victims at Nectar. Deft Magazine recently noted that, "Oftentimes artists from Seattle are overlooked...But Black Stax stands out, blending neo-soul, blues, and hip hop to create a sound very much their own, exposing the world to the sounds of Seattle’s underground with their debut album."
