Benefits Columbia University Medical Center’s Survivor Squad and American Cancer Society
New York, NY / August 26, 2010 - Recording artist and breast cancer survivor turned advocate Carmelina Vargas will host a fundraising event on Friday, October 22, 7:00pm – 10:00pm, at LQ’s in New York City. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event will benefit cancer research and benefit the Columbia University Medical Center’s Survival Squad and the American Cancer Society.
“I am more than honored to be able to connect the music industry and recording community to this very important cause. It will be a very loving and fun at atmosphere,” shares Carmelina.

About Carmelina Vargas
After an unanticipated hiatus to beat a (Stage 2) Breast Cancer diagnosis following the release of her debut album "Morena," Carmelina returns to music and to her fans as a true survivor. Originally from Barahona, Dominican Republic and the daughter of a merengue musician, Carmelina now resides in Harlem, NY. She has recently been featured on Russell Simmon’s GlobalGrind.com, AllThingsGirl.net, and is looking forward to the LatinTrends Magazine and METRO International pieces, which will be published in October.
