Seattle's Connor Desai Rocks the Voodoo Room on Tuesday, September 14th
Astoria, OR / Seattle, WA / August 24, 2010 - Seattle singer/songwriter/guitarist Connor Desai, who according to the Jazz Music Examiner "has an extraordinary voice all her own, able to deftly flow over jazz-funk bass notes or American folk guitar strumming," will play the Voodoo Room in support of her sophomore album, Use Your Hands, on Tuesday, September 14th at 8:00 p.m.
The Voodoo Room is located at:
1114 Marine Drive
Astoria, OR 97103
"I'll be doing an in-store performance at Millennium Music in Portland the night before then making my way down to Astoria. I'm really looking forward to playing the Voodoo Room, I've heard that the acoustics are great,"says Connor.
Connor Desai makes soulful American folk music and names Victoria Williams, Steely Dan, and Kansas as her early influences. Her latest appearance at ToST in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood received a recommendation from Three Imaginary Girls, which asserted that her latest release is filled with “hollow-bodied warmth, tube amp glow, and dark lounge haunt-drama.” A national feature on Channel One News revealed that “[you] can play the entire record, her refreshing sounds provide a nice variety -- whether they are upbeat and ranging near pop, or more slow and contemplative,” while Seattle Show Gal said “[she] is sure to melt your heart with her sultry, silky voice and fine-tuned jazzyness with a hint of bouncy pop.”
